Newly elected SGPC President welcomed warmly on his arrival at office

Amritsar, December 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Newly elected President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) S. Harjinder Singh Dhami on his arrival at the SGPC office for the first time today after the election, said that important personalities of the Sikh Panth who were presidents during the early days of the SGPC are the guiding forces for the Qaumi (community’s) service and he will strive to serve the Sikh body in the light of its golden history and traditions.

                 SGPC President said that more than the joy of this great responsibility of the community, the concern is to fulfil it while performing Qaumi service.

                  “As the priorities of the present time are different as compared to the past and it is must to consider the expectations of the Qaum”, said Harjinder Singh.

              He said that the SGPC is a religious body representing the Sikh community with a golden history of 101 years. During this century, the SGPC was also led by personalities who were of a reclusive nature.

                 “Although the current situation is different from the time of its inception, better results can be achieved even today by following the example of the then personalities. SGPC since its inception has always strived for the proper management of Gurdwaras as well as for the flourishing of the Sikh faith and has also played a vital role in social work. We will continue to be active in all these areas in the future as well. The cooperation of every Sikh organization and Sangat of the country and abroad will be sought in the work of the SGPC. The present is the time for dialogue and the discussion would be given priority to connect the Sikh youth with their heritage”, said Harjinder Singh.

               Meanwhile, on his arrival at the SGPC office, Harjinder Singh Dhami was given a warm welcome by the members and officials of the SGPC.

            On this occasion former senior vice-president of SGPC Surjit Singh Bhitewad, former General Secretary Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, newly elected executive committee member Harjap Singh Sultanwind, SGPC members Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Bhai Ram Singh, Mangwinder Singh Khaparkheri, SGPC secretary Mahinder Singh Ahli, additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, Partap Singh, Bijai Singh, former secretary Satbir Singh Dhami, assistant secretary Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Harjit Singh Lalu Ghuman, Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Tejinder Singh Padda, Sakatar Singh, Sulakhan Singh Bhangali, Gurmeet Singh Butter, Mukhtar Singh, Sukhbir Singh, Harjinder Singh Kaironwal, Nirveil Singh, Bibi Satwant Kaur deputy director education, Giani Jaswant Singh Kathawachak, superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal and others were present.
