Amritsar, December 6 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Navjot Singh Sidhu said that participation of foreign countries in PITEX should not be restricted to 5 to 10 countries; it should be expanded to 34 countries. The central government should strengthen connectivity to promote business in 34 countries, said Navjot Singh Sidhu while interacting with industrialists at the 15th PITEX Fair organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday evening. While advocating for the resumption of business on the Amritsar-Lahore road, he said that the central government has decided to start scanners on ICP. This is a commendable step by the Centre.
He said that it is necessary to promote mutual coordination in order to promote business in the countries. Programs like PITEX play an important role in this. Supporting the increase in the income of farmers and employment for the youth in Punjab, the Congress President said that if the interaction between 34 countries increases, then employment opportunities will also increase. While advising the farmers to leave traditional crops, pulses and other types of farming, Sidhu said that if farmers move towards food processing, their income will increase and industries will also expand. Navjot Sidhu said that by promoting industries in the field of food processing, self-employment opportunities will also increase.
Earlier, R.S Sachdeva Chairman Punjab Chapter PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed Sidhu on his arrival at PITEX and they deliberated about the problems of industries in Punjab. Many dignitaries including local convener of PHD Chamber of Commerce Jaideep Singh were present on the occasion.
