Management, Principal Hails Achievement
Amritsar, January 6 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS) Amritsar has become the first College in the sector in the whole of the country to get 5 year permanent accreditation from Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR). The accreditation was awarded today following the rigorous year-long inspections by the experts’ from central monitoring agencies, said Principal Dr. Harish Kumar Verma.
He said the ICAR submitted the Self- Study Report and subsequently verification and evaluation of all the teaching, clinical and livestock farmers related facilities was conducted by the Peer Review Team. “We are excited that the peer team found the infrastructure at the college as par excellent and granted the status finally”, said Dr. Verma adding that established in 2010, the KCVAS is one of the primary national level institutions in Veterinary education.
Dr. Verma said thus the KCVAS is the first ‘Private Veterinary College’ in India to receive accreditation from ICAR, for which he thanked the whole management and especially Khalsa College Governing Council honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, College MD Dr. S.K Nagpal, Dr. SNS Randhawa, HOD, Veterinary Medicine, and the contribution of all teaching and non-teaching staff and the students. He also said that former Principals including Dr. SK Jand, Late Dr. S.S Sidhu, and Dr.P.K Kapoor also contributed immensely for the development of the College.
