Accused involved in crime should be given exemplary punishment
Amritsar, January 31 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The inhumane torture of a young girl in Delhi is the peak of brutality and its perpetrators should be severely punished, said Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami.
Advocate Dhami said that humiliating any human being in this manner was totally against human rights, which is strongly condemned by the SGPC.
Demanding severe punishment for the perpetrators of this unfortunate incident in Delhi, Advocate Dhami said, “What could be more shameful than the mass torture of a helpless and lonely girl and it is even more unfortunate that the women were also involved in this crime.”
He said the dehumanising act of the accused persons of cutting hair and blackening the face of the girl is nothing less than a stigma on the forehead of society.
SGPC President demanded from the Delhi and the Centre governments that the accused persons should not be spared under any circumstances and that each one should be identified and given strict exemplary punishment.
“If the accused persons are not punished, the morale of such people will increase, which is deadly to the society”, said Advocate Dhami.
He said that the matter should be thoroughly investigated by the governments on every aspect and the SGPC has also assigned its Delhi Sikh Mission officials to investigate the matter. He said that further action would be taken as per the report of the SGPC officials.
