2nd Day of Science Week Festival “Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate”

Amritsar February 28 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The day 2 of science week festival “Vigyan Sarvatra Pujyate” being organised by the Department of Physics, Guru Nanak Dev University with supported from Vigyan Prasar and Punjab State Council for Science and Technology under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture and Office of the PSA, Government of India successfully commenced at Guru Nanak Bhawan on 23rd Feb, 2022. Themed around “From the Annals of History” the celebration included a number of lectures by eminent scientists and a Science Magic Show. Students were addressed by the Guest of Honour Mr. Dharamvir (Retd. IAS – 1973 batch) who laid emphasis on developing a scientific approach towards everything around us.

            Prof. Anish K. Dua, Dean Student’s Welfare and Professor, Department of Zoology described science in three words, “when, what and why” and described the chronicle of Indian Science & amp; technology. Prof. Keya Dharamvir, SPSTI Panchkula presented a mesmerizing science magic show demonstrating a series of various scientific concepts in a magical way. Mr. Harjit Singh from Indian Space Research Organisation, Trivandrum gave career guidance to students who are interested in the field of Astronomy & Cosmology. Dr. Surender Singh delivered a talk virtually on the advancement in field of Indian Meteorology. There were over 300 participants who were part of the celebration. The celebrations were coordinated by Dr. Bindiya Arora (local coordinator) along with student coordinators Anshuman, Akanksha, Diksha, Gayatri, Nikhita, Khushwant, Satvik and Sanidhya which included Science Book Fair, Science Exposition, Vigyan Safari, Photo Booth and Science Film Screening. The following days will include competitions based on themes related to science and technology in order to develop a healthy scientific rational temperament in the younger generation.
