Solar Energy Camp at KCET

Amritsar, March 6 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology in association with Punjab Energy Development Agency, Govt of Punjab organised an awareness camp on `Rooftop Solar System under 100% Renewable Energy City Project’, supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. Dr. Manju Bala Director-Principal welcomed the chief guest senior vice Chairperson Ravi Mohan Kapoor saying that these kind of awareness camps are very important as today world is facing acute energy crisis and it is the need of an hour that students should be made aware about the procedures to harness the solar energy.

            Ravi Mohan Kapoor while interacting with students told them that in Amritsar City 650 MWatts  of energy is consumed daily and this requirement may be easily met by harnessing solar energy. Kshitiz Vishnoi, City coordinator AHA Solar (consultant of PEDA) addressed the students and gave them the theoretical insight of the working of solar plant Shailendar Singh, Project Officer AHA Solar gave the practical insight to the students about the production of solar energy at the rooftop of the college where already solar project is installed. Others present on the occasion were Yashpal, District Manager, PEDA, Dr. Jugraj Singh Deputy Dean (Training and Placement), P. Prasant (Deputy Dean, Industry and Academia), Er. Sandeep Singh (HOD, ME), Er. Vinod Mahajan, Manjot Kaur, Parminder Kaur, Sukhmanjit Kaur and Ravinder Kaur.

            Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Honourary Secretary, Khalsa College Charitable Society congratulated the Director and Coordinator of the event and said that such kind of events in collaboration with the government are very helpful and must be practically implemented for the betterment of the environment.
