Amritsar, March 6 (Punjab Post Bureau) – “Veterinarians have to be fully trained and equipped with extension techniques along with clinical skills to tackle the problems faced by animal owners” said Dr Harish Kumar Verma, Principal Khalsa College of Veterinary And Animal Sciences (KCVAS), here in his address to passing out Veterinary Graduates today.
He was talking on “Hand holding approach for livestock farmers-extension call” where he focused on how to reach and empower the livestock farmers with latest techniques and approaches to minimise economic losses by better management and controlling animal diseases. He said this during the oath taking ceremony by 54 interns of the Veterinary bachelor’s program (B.V.Sc & A.H).
All interns have completed their 5 years and 6 months program from Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), Amritsar. Dr. (Col) P.S Mavi Director Veterinary Clinical Complex highlighted the achievements by students. Dr. Komalbir Kaur topped in academics, Dr. Mankirat Singh, best athlete of 2019 and Saksham Sethi a multitalented student by winning Gold in various extra-curricular activities.
Dr. Verma said out of 54 students, 17 have been selected for various post-graduation programs of GADVASU, Ludhiana. Dr S.K Nagpal Managing Director in his address said that the College has 17 departments with more than 80 Teaching Faculty. The college has received Permanent affiliation with GADVASU Ludhiana after full-filling mandatory requirement and has been approved by ICAR.
Dr. Verma Principal administered the Veterinary Oath to these interns and blessed them with good wishes for future endeavours. A student souvenir was released and a plantation was done by the Eco-club of students.
