Amritsar, March 14 (Punjab Post Bureau) – On the occasion of new year Nanakshahi Sammat 554, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) organised a special Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall today. During the congregation, hazuri raagi jathas of Sri Harmandar Sahib connected the Sangat with Gurbani Kirtan and the granth Singhs with Gurbani history.
SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami specially reached on the occasion of the congregation congratulated the Sangat and inspired to live life as per the Gurmat (teachings of the Sikh Gurus). He said the Sikhs always gaurd the teachings blessed by the Sikh Guru in Charhdi Kala (high spirit).
He said that the Sikh Qaum (nation) should celebrate and mark all the days according to the Nanakshahi calendar and it is the duty of the Sikh to firmly guard the Sikh Rehat Maryada (Sikh code of conduct).
Advocate Dhami said that the Sikh Qaum’s traditions and customs are so great that we should take guidance from the same to determine the course of life. Inspiring the Sangat to adopt the Bani and Bana (Gurbani and traditional Sikh attire), he urged them to unite as an organisation. He also appealed that every Sikh should display Nanakshahi calendar at their home so that the young generation and children could be acquainted with the days of Sikh history.
Meanwhile, Giani Jagtar Singh congratulating the Sangat on the Nanakshahi New Year, appealed to adopt the ideology of Gurbani. The hazuri raagi jathas of Sri Harmandar Sahib connected the Sangat with Gurbani Kirtan, in the congregation that went on till late night.
Those present on this occasion included former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh, Dharam Prachar Committee member Bhai Ajaib Singh, SGPC additional secretary Partap Singh, OSD to SGPC President Satbir Singh Dhami, assistant secretary Kulwinder Singh, Sakatar Singh, Balwinder Singh , Sulakhan Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Nirvail Singh, manager Sri Darbar Sahib Gurinder Singh, superintendent Malkit Singh, in-charge Shahbaz Singh, Gurnam Singh, Manjit Singh and Lakhbir Singh and the Sangat.
