Sri Akhand Path starts to commemorate martyrs of Gurdwara Sri Paonta Sahib Saka (Massacre)

Amritsar, May 20 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today started Sri Akhand Path Sahib at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall in the memory of the martyrs of Saka (massacre) of Gurdwara Sri Paonta Sahib.

                      Notably, 11 Sikhs of Nihung Singh jathebandi (organisation) Misl Shaheedan Tarna Dal were martyred in their struggle on May 22, 1964, to free from the possession of sinful mahants the historical Gurdwara Sri Paonta Sahib associated with tenth Sikh master Sri Guru Gobind Singh.

             SGPC assistant secretary media Kulwinder Singh informed that every year the congregation is organised at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall to commemorate the martyrs of Gurdwara Sri Paonta Sahib Saka.

            He said Sri Akhand Path Sahib was started in this regard today and the bhog (concluding ceremony) will be held on May 22, when prominent personalities including SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh will attend the congregation. He appealed to the Sangat to attend the samagam (religious congregation) being organised in the memory of the martyrs.

                   Those present on the occasion of the start of Sri Akhand Path Sahib included SGPC assistant secretary Balwinder Singh and Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Sulakhan Singh Bhangali, in-charge Harbhajan Singh, assistant manager Nishan Singh and more.
