Transfer of trial of Bargari sacrilege cases out of Punjab is government’s failure- Dhami

Amritsar, March 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The transfer of trial of Bargari related three sacrilege cases of Guru Granth Sahib out of Punjab is a blot on the forehead of Punjab Government. This exposes the reality about the Government’s seriousness in pursuing the sacrilege cases. This was said by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami on Wednesday while reacting to the decision of the Supreme Court of transferring the trial of Bargari related sacrilege cases out of Punjab.
Harjinder Singh Dhami said after a long period of eight years, the challan was presented in the court in these cases, in which, along with his followers, Dera Sirsa head Gurmeet Ram Rahim was also nominated.
SGPC President said that the incumbent Punjab Government did not strongly pursue these sacrilege cases of sensitive nature, attached to the Sikh sentiments. He said earlier Congress led Punjab Government had been doing politics on these sacrilege cases and now, Aam Aadmi Party led Government is also passing time on this extremely sensitive issue for Sikhs.
SGPC President said that it was required from the Punjab Government to strongly present its side in the court by any means, but the Government’s failure has hurt the Sikh sentiments.
He said that the governments are already kind to Dera Sirsa head and special treatment is being given to him by giving repeated paroles. In such a situation, sacrilege cases being transferred out of Punjab is a big question for the Punjab government. He strongly condemned the transfer of trial of the sacrilege cases and said that the government should apologize publicly for its failure.
