Massive Joint Protest by Teachers, Management at Khalsa College on Portal

Amritsar, June 1(Punjab Post Bureau) – A massive joint protest under the banner of Joint Action Committee (JAC), comprising of Aided and Un-Aided Colleges Managements, Principals Associations of three State Universities, Punjab Chandigarh Colleges Teachers Union (PCCTU) was today organized at Khalsa College and Khalsa College for Women against the state government over its dictatorial attitude on centralized admission portal.

Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) President Satyajit Singh Majithia, honourary secretary RMS Chhina who is also President of Aided Colleges Management Federation, members of the KCGC, Principals of all Khalsa institutions, PCCTU cadre, Principal Dr. Mehal Singh sat on dharna and protested the proposed Portal which they alleged was aimed to destroy the institutions of higher learning in the state.

They rose anti government slogans for adopting the coercive measures being taken by Punjab government under bureaucratic pressure. They accused the state’s AAP government of adopting arbitrary, discriminatory and coercive steps which will kill the colleges administratively and financial as the Colleges in state are already facing funds crunch due to decreasing admissions in view of youth’s flight to foreign countries.

In their address to protestors, both Majithia and Chhina targeted the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s government for not listening to the stake holders  and adopting the `policy of dictatorship’. They condemned the attitude of the department of higher education and DPI officials who are hell-bound to mitigate the Colleges for vested interests of benefitting private players.
