GNDU Shooters Shine in Asian Games Hangzhou (China)

Amritsar, September 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – In a remarkable display of talent and skill, the athletes of Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, have made a significant mark at the ongoing Asian Games in Hangzhou China. The prestigious event, which commenced on September 23 and will continue until October 8, 2023, witnesses the participation of exceptional athletes from across the continent. It is with immense pride and honor that we announce the stellar achievements of our university’s representatives. It is pertinent that 10 athletes of this university in different games are representing the Country in these games.

On the second day of competition, the shooting contingent of GNDU proved their mettle and brought glory to the nation. Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar, a promising shooter and student of the Department of Physical Education, GNDU Campus Amritsar, demonstrated unparalleled excellence. Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar secured a Gold medal in the team event, establishing a new world record, and added to his accolades by clinching an Individual Bronze medal in the 10-meter shooting event. His exceptional performance not only earned him a place on the podium but also etched his name in the annals of sporting history.

Another shining star from GNDU Ashi Chouksey displayed exemplary skill and determination in the 10-meter Air Rifle event, securing a Silver medal. Ashi Chouksey’s achievement is a testament to her dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence in the field of shooting.

The remarkable accomplishments of Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar and Ashi Chouksey have garnered admiration and accolades from all quarters. Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, along with Prof. Karanjeet Singh Kahlon, Registrar, Prof. Sarabjot Singh Behl, Dean of Academic Affairs, and Dr. Kanwar Mandeep Singh Director of Sports extended their heartfelt congratulations to both the shooters for their outstanding performance on the international stage.
