Amritsar, April 4 (Punjab Post) – The Department of Science at BBK DAV College for Women celebrated National Science Day 2026 with great enthusiasm. The theme of the celebration was ‘Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat.’ The event aimed to promote scientific temper, innovation, and creativity among students while highlighting the significance of science in everyday life. Students from the Department of Science showcased innovative models and informative charts on diverse themes such as renewable energy, environmental conservation, space science, artificial intelligence, health sciences, and sustainable development. The exhibits effectively demonstrated the practical applications of scientific concepts and reflected the participants’ creativity, dedication, and research-oriented approach.
To make the event more interactive and engaging, several science-based games and activities were organized, including quiz competitions, puzzle-solving challenges, rapid-fire rounds, and science riddles. These activities not only made learning enjoyable but also encouraged teamwork and critical thinking among students. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia emphasized the vital role of science in national development. She encouraged students to adopt a scientific outlook in both their academic pursuits and daily lives, stressing that scientific thinking and innovation are essential for building a progressive and developed nation. Adv. Sudarshan Kapoor Chairman Local Advisory Committee, Dr. Rashmi Kalia Head Department of Botany, Dr. Shweta Mohan, Head Department of Physics, and Dr. Poonam Khular Head Department of Chemistry were also present.
