Amritsar, March 28 ( Paritam Singh)- The two-day long national conference on Innovation in Engineering & Information Technology today began at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET) here. More than 65 research papers and project reports are to be read during the conference, which is first of its level in the college campus. The key note address was delivered by Dr. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Delhi who gave detailed accounts of changing IT scenario around the world. He said IT is the future and it will change our way of life immensely in the coming a few years due to the new innovations. A number of students also presented their papers and projects. Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina who inaugurated the conference said such intellectual gatherings help the students and faculty to exchange new ideas and innovations. Organized by department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, the initiative, said KCET Principal Dr.Amarpal Singh was supported by the Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar. One interesting paper was presented by a student Abeeda Parveen who gave an account of new software to streamline the traffic and reduce the congestion on the roads. Dr. Amarpal said the Conference was an opportunity for faculty and scholars to update their knowledge about the latest happenings in the field. “This event is an effort to meet the technological challenges in research and development areas’’, said he. Those present during the Conference today included Engineer Sanjeev Kumar, Prof Sangeeta Mahindra, Prof. R.S Mahal, Prof Harkaran Singh and others were present.
