Amritsar, Sept. 21 (Punjab Post Bureau) –  DAV Public School, Lawrence Road today paid rich tribute to the celebrated teacher of Swami Dayanand Ji, Swami Virjanand on his death anniversary. The students spoke about the inspiring life of Swami Virajanand Ji. The great and pious saint influenced the  life of Swami Dayanand to the extent that it is believed that there would have been  no Dayanand without Virjanand and without Dayanand there would have been no revival of the Vedic Dharma. Swami Virjanand, the blind sage of Mathura was born in a place near Jalandhar in the year 1778 in a Brahmin family. At a tender age of five ,he lost his eyesight after an attack of small pox and before he completed his twelfth year his parents died.. The orphan boy soon left his house and  moved to Rishikesh and then Hardwar to lead a life of meditation and austerity. It was at Mathura that he came across his most  illustrious disciple, Swami Dayanand Saraswati. He was a very hard task master and he expected a very high standard of diligence and discipline in his students. It was swami Virjanand who helped Dayanand Ji  realise the true meaning of life and understand the hidden and inner meaning of Vedas. He asked him to spread the true knowledge of the Vedas, dispel the darkness of ignorance,  throw light on the true meaning of truth and  liberate India.

In the end the students took a pledge to follow the path shown by Swami Virjanand and dispel ignorance and evils from the society. Regional Director Amritsar Zone Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra Principal BBK DAV College for Women, Lawrence Road and the Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar Principal DAV College, Hathi Gate in their message asked the students to imbibe true Aryan Values and lead a fruitful life. Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the School while addressing the students said that we  must pay reverence to the great saints who  have shown us the path of enlightenment. We all must tread the path of sacrifice and honesty and pledge to become shresth humans.
