DAVIS emerged as overall champion in DAV National Sports Cluster Tournament-2015

Amritsar, Oct. 12 (Punjab Post Burea) – The two day DAV National Sports Cluster Tournament came to an end with a happy note at DAV International School, Amritsar on 10^th October, 2015 in which DAVIS out shined everyone and became overall champion. The entire tournament was a fun packed learning experience for approximately 660 students who participated in the event with full enthusiasm and honed their skills through 21 different competitions. The closing ceremony, organised under the auspices of Principal Anjana Gupta, was presided over by Director Public Schools-1 and Aided schools, New Delhi, Sh. J.P Shoor. Other dignitaries to grace the occasion included Chairman Sir, Dr V P Lakhanpal, Regional Director, Dr. Mrs. Neelam Kamra and Manager, Dr. Rajesh Kumar. The function began with traditional lamp lighting after which Principal Anjana Gupta extended green welcome to the luminaries, in the form of plants. Interacting with the students, she said that participating in sports is more important than winning therefore one should play in sportsman spirit. Thereafter students presented melodious DAV Gaan. Regional Director, Dr. Mrs. Neelam Kamra welcomed the gathering through her speech and motivated the participants with her words of wisdom. She said that sports are the need of the hour as they are the only medium through which students can be made stress free.  Audience became spell bound by the mesmerizing Qwaali presented by DAVIANS. Delivering the presidential address at the concluding ceremony, Chief Guest Sh. J.P Shoor appreciated the efforts of the participants and commended them by rewarding their efforts. School Management honoured the invited dignitaries with a token of love. Manager Dr. Rajesh Kumar extended vote of thanks to the gathering and applauded the hard work of participants and their coaches. He stressed on the role of sports in a healthy life style and urged the students to follow it. On this occasion, , LMC member, Sh. Mahinderjit Singh, Arya Samaji, Sh. Murari Lal, Principal Neera Sharma, Principal Shabnam Handa, Principal Sanjeev Kochhar, Principal Paramjeet, Principal Kusum Sharma, Principal Neena Batra and Principal Simmi Luthra were also present. The day concluded with National Anthem. In this two day event, 21 different sports like Cricket, Hockey, Football, Gymnastic, Lawn Tennis, Judo, Kho- Kho, Badminton, Basketball, Handball, Table Tennis, Kabaddi, Chess, Yoga, Roller Skating, Air Pistol & Rifle, Volleyball, Boxing, Athletics and Swimming, were organized in DAV International School, DAV Public school, DAV Police Public School, MKD DAV Public School Neshtha, Attari and GND DAV School, Bhikhiwind. In this tournament DAV International bagged the first position with maximum points and DAV Public School secured second position.
