Capacity Building Workshop of VIII Std. Teachers held

Amritsar, Feb. 12 (Punjab Post Bureau) – DAV Centre for Academic Excellence, a unit of DAVCMC, New Delhi continuously holds in-service training programs of its teachers to hone their teaching acumen. In this regard, a capacity building workshop for the Evaluation of all the subjects for the teachers of Class VIII was organized on 11^th Feb, 2016 at DAV International School. Principal Yogesh Gambhir from DRV DAV Centenary Public School, Phillaur and his team conducted this workshop. Regional Director Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra also presided on the occasion. It was attended by more than 50 teachers of various schools of Amritsar Zone. As is customary, the workshop began with the auspicious lamp lighting ceremony followed by the floral welcome of the worthy Resource Person. DAV Gaan was also sung by the young DAVIANS. Principal Anjana Gupta extended her heartfelt gratitude to the Resource person for coming to her school to conduct a workshop on the crucial issue of ‘Evaluation’. Regional Director Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra suggested the teachers to consider every child as their own while evaluating the answer sheets and not be prejudiced against anyone. Principal Yogesh Gambhir, in his address, highlighted that Evaluation is one of the most important responsibilities of a teacher as it is the analysis of a child’s whole year’s efforts & hard work. He made all the subject teachers check the papers of their respective subjects. This was followed by a detailed discussion and comparative study of the checking of the same paper done by different teachers. He highlighted on the point that inspite of the multiple responsibilities of a teacher, he/she must ensure genuine and imbiased evaluation. The workshop concluded with the valedictory ceremony in which the participating teachers were given away the certificate by the honourable Regional Director Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra. A representative teacher from each school delivered their feedback regarding the workshop. All of them found it to be highly fruitful and informative.
