“Youth is the future and they should have the Vision; Khushwant Singh

Amritsar, Mar. 17 (Dharmender Singh Rataul) –  An interaction of the students with an Author was organized by the PG Department of Political Science, Khalsa College today on the topic ‘Present Day Punjab and Youth’ in which author and known columnist Khushwant Singh, was the resource person. Delving into the contemporary issues prevailing in the society, the writer said the youth is the future and they should develop a vision to take the nation to the path of development and a civilized society.

            He however was of the view that he feel sad that the youth is not as vigilant to their societal issues as they should be. He spoke on the various issues including the social-religious and political and said the information was the most powerful medium to bring change in the society. He coerced the students to channelize their energies towards development issues and develop a critical as well as prudent vision towards the society.

            He advised them to form informed opinions and to speak on various issues. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh extended a floral reception to the guest and welcomed him on behalf of the staff and students of the college. Khushwant Singh who has set a milieu in the field of media with his publication ‘Maharaja in Denims’, replied to various queries of the inquisitive participants. Dr. Mehal Singh said that such events are very important for the overall personality development of the students. He added that the Department of Political Science has been a pioneer in organizing such lectures which add to the confidence of the students and provide extra knowledge apart from the textbooks.

            The event was also attended by Prof. Devender Singh, Registrar Khalsa College, Pof. Navneen Bawa, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Jaspreet Kaur, head Departement of Political Science, Prof. Sukhmeen Bedi, Prof. Anupam Sandhu, Prof. Sukhjit Singh, Prof. Gurvel Singh Malhi and other faculty members of the college.
