Baisakh, Ram Navami celebrations mark DAV Public School

Amritsar, April 12 (Punjab Post Bureau)- It was  a day of celebrations at DAV Public School , Lawrence Road as the students celebrated Baisakh , Ram Navami and Birth Anniversary of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar with zeal. The students were in a festive mood and began the celebration by singing divine bhajans and shabads praying to Almighty for prosperity throughout the year. The jubilation and enthusiasm of Baisakhi was apparent as the students decked up in colourful clothes performed bhangra at the beat of the dhol and sang folk songs.  The auspicious day of Ram Navami, the birth of Lord Rama was also  observed with festive rituals. The students also paid tribute to Dr. B.R.Ambedkar, whose birth anniversary falls on April 14. The students read out excerpts from his inspirational life. Dr. Ambedkar, who was one of the architects of the Indian constitution, was a well – known politician and an eminent jurist.

The students talked about Ambadkar’s remarkable efforts to eradicate social evils like untouchability and cast restrictions. Mr..G.S. Bhatti from  Punjabi faculty of the school addressed the students on this occasion and informed them about the importance of these auspicious days. On this  day i.e.  April 13 in 1875 , Swami Dayanand Saraswati founded Arya Samaj for spiritual guidance and  on the same day in 1699, the tenth Guru of Sikhs,  Guru Gobind Singh ji , founded Khalsa Panth .

Regional Director , Punjab Zone – A , Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra and the Manager of the school , Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal DAV College, Amritsar sent their best wishes to the teachers and the students on this occasion. They said that the day was a day to thank Almighty for his benevolence and pray  to Him for a prosperous life.

Dr. Neera Sharma , Principal of the school congratulated  the students and the staff on this blessed day. She asked the students to lead an ethical life, imbibing the values of honesty, brotherhood, sacrifice and love for the country. She blessed the students for good health, prosperity and success in life.
