ICFSS organized a lecture on visual to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur

New Delhi, 23 June (Punjab Post Bureau)- International Centre for Sikh studies has been conducting a number of lectures to mark tercentenary of the martyrdom of reminiscing him, ICFSS organized a lecture on visual to Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in Delhi by Dr. Harbans kaur Sagoo, Director International Centre for Sikh Studies.

            The programme commanded with the Gurbani Gayan by the students of Guru Granth Sahib Vidhya kinder. Dr. Jaipal Singh, vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala was the chief guest and Dr. Tripta Wahi renowned historian was the Guest of Honor S. Tanwant Singh , member DSGCMC and other members graced the occasion.

            The presentation by Dr. Harbans Kaur Sagoo was based on Persian Sources and has rich historical reference from books by G.S.S. Grewal, Zafar Habib, Balwant Singh Dhillon, William Irvine and Dr. Ganda Singh. Her presentation included visuals of Tripolia Jail where Banda Singh and his 18 associates were imprisoned which at present in shattered condition from Agrabad, which according to her is somewhere between Badli, Rohini to Shalimar Bagh, the procession of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur who was imprisoned rested before they entered into the streets of Delhi. Then the procession moved to Loon Mandi which she identified either near Nanak Piao, Sangam Park or Lahori Gate, Naya Bazar which was at the outskirts of the area of Delhi. Based on Persian sources, She affirmed that Chabutra Kotwali was near Tripolie somewhere where Delhi public Library and Chandni Ground is there. The Baoli, khwaja Bakhtiyar kaki Dargah, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Gurdwara etc. and all places of importance were discerned discreetly by her from old historical records, Dr. Sagoo dispelled many myths related to Harems.

            Dr. Jaspal Singh appreciate lectures and activities of ICFSS and specially presentation of Dr. Harbans Kaur which cornered pressing issues. He also appreciated efforts of S Gurbachan Singh Mastana for his dedication to Baba Banda singh Bahadur and preserving places related to him. Dr. Tripta Wahi presented her scholarly observation the program was conducted by Dr. Bhagwant Kaur S. Trilochan Singh, Former MP and S. Kulmohan Singh, Convener ICFSS , Thanked all who graced the occasion.
