Three-Week Refresher Course in Information Technology concluded at GNDU

 Amritsar, July 14, 2016 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A “Three-Week Refresher Course in Information Technology (ID)” was concluded at the UGC-Human Resource Development Centre of the Guru Nanak Dev University. As many as 43 university and college teachers pertaining to a wide spectrum of disciplines from across the country participated.

Prof. T.S. Banipal, Director Research of the University was the Chief Guest. Prof. Banipal in his valedictory address highlighted the utility of these courses, which, not only facilitates the career advancement, but also go a long way in enhancing the expertise, competence, skills of the teachers. Exhorting the teachers to confine themselves not only to imparting the subject specific knowledge to their students, but also to play a pro-active role for the betterment of the society. The teaching community need to realize their onerous responsibility to make a better society at large, he emphasized. Talking about the rapid strides being made in the field of Information Technology, he asked the participants to remain vigilant against the misuse of these technologies, particularly, in Social Networking sites. Prof. Banipal expressed his deep concern over the functioning of the various school education boards, which needs to be streamlined as soon as possible.  He concluded his address by urging the participants to take the teaching not only as a profession, but as a passion.

Dr. Shalini Bahel, Coordinator from Deptt. of Electronics Technology summarized the contents of the Course. Prof. Amarjit Singh Sidhu, Director, UGC-Human Resource Development Centre felicitated the participants on the successful completion of the course. He counselled the participants to make optimum use of the expertise gained during the course and also to disseminate it further. The geographical, cultural, linguistic hetereogenity of the group alongwith the diversity of the disciplines must have definitely enriched them, he continued. The participants of the Course profusely thanked the entire team of the HRDC for this successful venture. Earlier the Chief Guest was accorded a floral welcome by Prof. Amarjit Singh Sidhu, Dr. Mohan Kumar and Dr. Shalini Bahel. In the end, certificates were given away to the successful participants. Dr. Mohan Kumar proposed the vote of thanks.
