BBK DAV College Wins Gndu Inter-College Kayaking Championship

Amritsar, Sept. 24 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Kayaking team of BBK DAV College won the GNDU Inter-College Kayaking Championship held at Pong Dam, Talwara by winning five gold medals and three silver medals. The college team gave a splendid show by defeating HMV College, Jalandhar, Khalsa College for Women, Amritsar and GNDU Campus.

Ms. Slomi got five gold medals in K2 1000m, K4 500m, K1 500m and K2 200m, one silver medal in K4 1000m, Ms. Priyanka won four gold medals and two silver medals in different events, Ms. Santoshi Dalai bagged one gold and four silver medals and Ms. Madhu Sharma got one gold and two silver medals. Four players i.e. Ms. Slomi, Ms. Priyanka, Ms. Madhu and Ms. Santoshi Dalai have been selected to represent GNDU team for All India Intervarsity Kayaking Championship to be held at Chandigarh in the month of September 2016. Other team members are Shaveta, Palak, Manpreet Kaur and Kawaljeet Kaur. Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia congratulated the young achievers and motivated them to maintain their performance in future as well. She added that the college players have always made a mark in various championships and as a result, BBK DAV is a forerunner in sports. Mrs. Sweety Bala, Head, Department of Physical Education, along with other faculty members, felicitated the players on their achievements.
