World Tourism Day celebrated at Global Institutes

Amritsar, Sept. 27 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Department of Hotel Management and Catering Technology  and Department of Airlines & Tourism of Global Institutes, organized competitions to celebrate World Tourism Day 2016. Various Competitions such as Chef Competition, Carving & Salad Making, Rangoli, Flower decoration, Mocktail making and Bakery competitions were held to celebrate the day. Students of Department of Airlines & Tourism showcased their talent by performing a cultural group Dance.

In his welcome address Vice Chairman, Global Institutes Dr Akashdeep Singh said tppn2709201609hat the aim of this activity was to inspire budding youth in the field of Tourism studies, which has tremendous growth potential. He also said that the World Tourism Day is observed to create global awareness about the importance of tourism and its impact on society in various fields. Tourism provides jobs to millions of people, and enables economies all around the globe to flourish. Earlier, Chief guest on the occasion, Mr. Vivek Sharma – General Manager, Hyatt Amritsar, was accorded a floral welcome along with Guests of Honor Mr. Gaurav Bartwal – General Manager , Ramada, Chef Puspendu Sen- executive chef Hyatt Hotel Amritsar and Mr. Oliver Viegas -Director Food & Beverage Service, Hyatt Amritsar.

Prof Amit Hasija , Dean – Hotel Management Global Institutes, the main organizer of the concept said, it is important that the youth of India, realize the importance of tourism. The four special guests judged the competitions and gave prizes to the winners. Chairman, Global Institutes, Dr. B S Chandi, complimented students and teachers of the institute for their culinary and other art skills.
