Fun and Frolics mark the Cultural program at Khalsa College

ppn0211201617 Amritsar, November 2 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The fun and frolics marked the cultural program organized at Khalsa Colleeg here today to honor the students who represented the College in the Zonal youth Festival of Guru Nanak Dev University. The prizes were given to the students who performed well in the festival in which the college had emerged as champion.

            Khalsa College Governing Council honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chinna gave away the prizes along with Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare GNDU whow as the guest of honour. The program ushered in by the rendition of the college shabad recitation by the college students which was followed by the lighting of the lamp.

                Principal Dr. Mehal Singh said the College bagged the Overall Champion Trophy at the Zonal Youth festival of GNDU as the students of the college grabbed 13 first positions in the Giddha, Jhummar, Elocution, Ekangi, Folk Orchestra, Folk Song, Ghazal, Poetry, Vaar Gayan, Skit, Mime, Mimicry and 12 second positions in Bhangra, classical dance, group song, solo song etc and 5 third positions in Group Shabad, Kawishri and Rangoli.

            The melodious performances by the students enthralled the audience by their flair, and set the event rolling. Various cultural items including Giddha, Bhangra, Western Music stole the hearts of spectators. The event reflected the essence of India as a melting pot of various cultures through harmonious blends of music, rhythm and dance.

            An exhibition cum sale namely ‘Parkash and Sirjana’ dedicated to Diwali festival was also organized by the department of Fashion Designing and Fine arts of the College. Various items including garments as well as home décor were showcased by the Department of Fashion Designing. Prof. Devinder Singh, Dean Youth Welfare, Prof. Sukhmeen Bedi, Dean Academic Affairs, members of Academic council and members of staff were also present on the occasion.
