Amritsar, Dec 14 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The Syndicate meeting of the Guru Nanak Dev University was held here today in the Syndicate Room of the University. Prof. Ajaib Singh Brar, Vice-Chancellor presided over while Prof. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Registrar presented the agenda. Prof. N.S. Tung, Dean Academic Affairs and syndics were present to discuss the various issues.
Prof. Brar apprised the syndicate members about the recently constructed University Business School, Sports Hostels for Girls and Boys and new wards in University Health Centre. He also informed the house that the foundation stones for Food Court for Girl Hostels and a Common Food Court were also laid. The University also organized a two-day National Seminar on Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji, dedicated to 350th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji; 20th Annual Conference of The Indian Political Economy Association (IPEA); A three-day Conference, 25th Indian Convention of Food Scientists and Technologists (ICFoST XXV); 31st Seminar on “Guru Nanak Bani: Foundational source of Applied Ethics”; two courses under Global Inititive of Academic Network (GIAN).
The placements of 428 students from various departments of the University with internationally renowned Indian multinational IT companies from 2017 batch were also acknowledged. In sports, University successfully organized All India Inter-University Road Cycling, Judo, Shooting, Track Cycling (Men & Women) Championships 2016-17. In cultural domain, Univeristy stood runners-up in Inter-University National Qwali Competition held at Lovely Professional University, Phagwara and stood third in Gidha competitions held at Punjabi University Patiala during the celebration of 50th anniversary of Punjabi Suba.
Prof. Brar thanked the syndics and exhorted all to play pro-active role in further progress of the University.
