Amritsar, January 26 (Punjab Post Bureau)- The 68th Republic Day was celebrated at the Guru Nanak Dev University Campus with great enthusiasm. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A.S. Brar unfurled the National Flag outside the Guru Nanak Bhawan Auditorium. A large number of teachers, employees, students and campus residents took part in these celebrations.
The students of the Music Department presented patriotic songs. Prof. NS Tung, Dean, Academic Affairs welcomed the chief guest and others while Dr. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Registrar presented vote of thanks on this occasion. Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare conducted the stage. Prof. Brar while congratulating the University fraternity said that though our country progressed in all spheres after independence but more needed to be done as compare to those countries that got independent after our country. The major factor behind this was education and health services, which are comparatively better than our country.
He said that the need of hour is collective efforts by all regarding quality education and health services. He said that Guru Nanak Dev University is pioneer University of the State which excelled in education, research, sports and culture. This is the only University of the State which cleared all arrears, dues and salaries of its employees and retirees well in time. He exhorted all to work collectively for the benefit of the University.
