Amritsar, March 8 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Women Grievances and Redressal cell, DAV College Amritsar took an initiative to organize Guest Lecture on women empowerment for celebration of International women’s Day.
Dr. Inderjeet Kaur Head All India Pingalwara Charitable Society was the Chief Guest and key speaker during the event. Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar along with Dr. Parveen Thakur, Conveynor Women Cell welcomed the Chief Guest during the event. While speaking on the occasion Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar, detailed about historical background of ‘Women Day’ and he also talked about extraordinary achievements of Dr. Inderjeet kaur in Social and economic field. He added that from last 40 years she is sincerely and selflessly working while following ideals of Bhagat Puran Singh for betterment of society. He further added that she was awarded with awards from various Countries like Chicago, Washington DC, Canada, London, Patiala, Doordarshan Delhi and Padama Bhushan By Indian Government.
While speaking on the occasion, Stage Coordinator, Dr Kiran Khanna briefed about theme declared by UN for Women Empowerment Day “Be Bold For Change” and she also talked about variety of programs organized for its celebration.
While speaking on occasion, Dr. Inderjeet Kaur created awareness among the women staff members by explaining them about extraordinary performances by women achievers like Nightingale, Mata Gugri, Bibi Bhani, Bibi Nanki, Rani Jhansi to Pratibha Patil, Lata Mangeshkar, Sunita William, PV Sandhu, Saina Nehwal. She also motivated them to follow the path of these female success workers in their own life to live successfully. She also stressed upon the need of Community improvement and Purification of the environment. She motivated that qualities like Decorum, Self esteem, Foresightedness and discipline are assests for any women to live freely in society.
While interacting with female students Konika, Harpreet, Shruti, Alka, Hina and Aman, Dr. Inderjeet Kaur responded that a perfect balance between family and society helps in making a female self independent and successful in her life. She also focused on contribution of social media and Academic institutions in eliminating the influence of westernized culture on our society.
Dr. Daisy Sharma, Administrator, Prof. Ashima Walia, Prof. Kamal Jeet Rana, Prof .Nivedita Sharma, Prof. Lovleen kaur, Prof Neeru Gupta, Prof. Renuka, Prof. Rupinder kaur, Prof. Poonam Sharma and students from various departments were also present during the event.
