Colourful start to Second Inter-Khalsa Colleges Youth Festival-2017

PPN2303201722Amritsar, March 23 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The colourful functions today marked the various competitions of fine arts, poetry, rangoli, poster-making, debates and elocution at Second Inter-Khalsa Colleges Youth Festival, oraganized at Khalsa University campus. The three-day long festival will have hundreds of students from 13 Khalsa Colleges participating and competing in at least 25 items, said the authorities. The Bhangra, Gidda, fancy dress, mimicry, skits, group discussions, kawishri, paintings, shabad gayan, poetry and cartooning would be the major attractions during the fesival which was inaugurated by Khalsa Colleeg Governing Council honourary secretary and KU Pro-chnacellor Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina. He welcomed the students who have arrived from all over the state saying the youth festival was started last year to provide the students an opportunity to showcase their talent. This, he said was a an in-house  program which was envisaged following the Khalsa institutions increasing manifold in the recent years. The festival, he said will help to polish the students’ skills to compete in other inter-colleges and even inter-university youth festivals. The campus of the University was tasetefully decorated for the festival.

            Earlier Principal of Khalsa College of Education and KU Registrar Dr. Jaswinder Singh Dhillon welcomed the guests and said on seeing the growth in numbers of colleges in the last one decades the decision was taken to arrange in-house youth festival for providing the students an opportunity to show their talent in various disciplines. KCW Principal Dr.Sukhbir Kaur Mahal, Khalsa Colege of Pharmacy Colege Dr. RK Dhawan, Dr. SK Jand, Dr.SP Kaur Dhillon, Dr.Jaspal Singh and others were present during the festival.
