BBK DAV College Hosts Inter-College Youth Festival organised by Youth Services Punjab

Amritsar, March 24 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Youth Services, Punjab in collaboration with BBK DAV College for Women organised Inter-College Youth Festival in Urvi Auditorium. On the first day of the festival, Dr. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare Department, Guru Nanak Dev University was the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Jagjit Kaur congratulated BBK DAV College and Youth Services, Punjab on organising the youth festival which aims to help the students to stay connected with the culture and heritage of Punjab. PPN2403201701On the same day, Kavishri, Puratan Pehrava, Lok Geet, Traditional Art, Declamation and Mono Acting Competition were held in which various colleges from district Amritsar participated. The judges for the same were Mrs. Aadarsh Parti, Former Principal, Hindu Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Kapurthala, Ms. Madhu Sethi, Head, Music Department, Hindu Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Kapurthala, Sh. Harish Kumar, President, Technical Doordarshan, Jalandhar. Mr. Dalwinder Dyalpuri, Folk Singer of International Fame, Jagtar Singh Chandra Sarai, Singer & Composer, Kamaljit Singh, International Designer, Gurbachan Singh, National Sports Coach. During the Valedictory Ceremony, S. Kulwinder Singh Thiara, SSP, Punjab Police & International Gymnast was the Chief Guest. In his valedictory address, he emphasised the importance of respecting elders and staying rooted in the tradition and culture. On the second day, Prof. Dr. R.K. Mahajan, Dean, College Development Council, GNDU was the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. R.K. Mahajan highly appreciated the endeavour of the college and said that culture and music know no boundaries. He added that BBK DAV College has always made a mark not only in the field of academics but also in sports and other co-curricular activities.PPN2403201702

During the day Gidda, Folk International (solo) and Vaar Singing Competitions were held. The judges for the same were Bhupinder Singh, eminent Vaar Singer, Dalwinder Dyalpuri, Folk Singer of International Fame, Gurjit Singh, International Dhadi Kalan Singer, Mr. Harwinder Singh Sohal, Eminent Artist, Musician and Singer, Prof. Ravinderjit Kaur, Head, Department of Punjabi, Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Sarhali, Preet Nahal, Research Scholar, Punjabi University, Patiala,  Ms. Amandeep, famous Gidda Dancer. It is pertinent to note that BBK DAV College for Women and Youth Services, Punjab celebrated youth Day on 16th March 2017 by organising Declamation Contest on Swami Vivekananda and Poster Making competition. The judges for the same were Dr. Harminder Singh Bedi, Former Head, Department of Hindi, GNDU, Sh. Kapil Chopra, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, DAV College, Hoshiarpur, Sh. Brijesh Jolly, Chairman, K.T. Kala Kendra, Sh. Atul, Eminent Artist.

On the concluding day of the festival, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that BBK DAV has always spearheaded the cause of the promotion of the culture and heritage. She applauded the efforts of the Youth Services, Punjab and said that this Youth Festival is a celebration of Punjabi Culture. She congratulated the participants on giving excellent performance. Expressing gratitude, Capt. I.S. Dhammi, Assistant Director, Youth Services, Punjab thanked Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia for collaborating in organising this festival. At the end of the festival, BBK DAV College for Women lifted overall championship trophy by winning most of the competitions. Sh. Sudershan Kapoor, Chairman, LMC, Karampal Dhillon, Supporter of Cultural Heritage and Programmer, AIR, Dr. Ritu Sharma, Dean, Youth Welfare Department, BBK DAV College, Youth Co-ordinators, along with other faculty members, were present on the occasion.
