Amritsar, May 13 (Punjab Post Bureau) –
Dr. (Lt). Harsimran Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Punjabi, BBK DAV College for Women got the rank of Lieutenant and became Associate NCC Officer after attending a three month training programme at Officers Training Academy, Gwalior under the First Punjab Girls Battalion, NCC Amritsar. The aim of the course was to introduce trainees to a regimented way of life and to develop team work, leadership qualities, self-confidence and dignity of labour in them.
Dr. Harsimran Kaur was given training in various fields like Map Reading, Navigation, ANO Studies, Yoga Drill, Rifle Drill and Personality Development. The training also included participation in sports like basket ball, throw ball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and tug of war. A total of 68 cadets participated in the training programme.
Dr. (Lt.) Harsimran Kaur was the only candidate from Amritsar. Being an NCC cadet, she had already earned ‘C’ Certificate and after completing this programme, she became First Officer Lieutenant. She was also awarded with the Certificate of Merit for the camp planning as well as a book review.
Congratulating Dr. (Lt.) Harsimran Kaur on her achievement, Principal Dr. Pushpinder Walia said that it was a moment of great pride for the college and the NCC department. She added that NCC wing has always been grooming its cadets into disciplined and patriotic citizens.
