Amritsar, June 24 (Punjab Post Bureau) – “The city of Amritsar would soon see a memorial dedicated to Master Tara
Singh come up which would inspire the future generations to remain imbued with the sense of sacrifice for the sake of the country.” Expressing these views while addressing a state level function organized here today by the Punjab Government in the memory of great leader Master Tara Singh, the Local Government, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister, Punjab, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu announced on behalf of the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh that the memorial would be constructed as pr the wishes and at the place choosen by the family members of Master Tara Singh. The minister also said that selfless leaders like Master Tara Singh would continue to rule the hearts of the people. Thanking the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh for organizing this event, Mr. Sidhu said that Master Tara Singh always put the interests of panth over and above his own.
Remembering Master Tara Singh, the minister said that Master Tara Singh was a great leader who always worked tirelessly throughout his life for the welfare and unity of the panth and made innumerable sacrifices to ensure this. The minister further said that when he sees the akalis of today in the Vidhan Sabha, he feels like arguing with them but feels like touching the feet of and bowing before selfless leaders like Master Tara Singh. He also said that the present lot of leaders suffer from moral degradation. He asked Punjabi people to take inspiration from leaders like Master Tara Singh for character building who rose above the confines of party politics to devote his life to the country. He also exhorted the youth to follow the ideals of Shaheed Bhagat Singh who is remembered for his ideology and sacrifice.
He also said that the Chief Minister is fully committed to eradicate the menace of drugs from the sacred soil of Punjab and those indulging in drug trade would be severely proceeded against. He further stated that it is his cherished desire to see Punjab prosperous and make all round progress on all the developmental parameters.
On the occasion, Dr. Jaspreet Kaur granddaughter in law of Master Tara Singh shared the contribution made by the great leader during Freedom Movement, Gurudwara Reform Movement and Punjabi Suba Movement. Various other personalities like Principal Jagdish Singh Chairman of Sant Singh Sukha Singh Group of Institutions and Prof. Amanpreet Singh from Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College Delhi shed light on the life and times of Master Tara Singh.
Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu also honoured Dr. Jaspreet Kaur and Great Grandson (Maternal Side) Mr. Navreet Singh. The Alfaz theatre group presented a play titled ‘Teesri Jang’ making people aware against the drugs and children of Sant Singh Sukha Singh school recited Shabad and presented ‘Kavishri’.
On the occasion MLA Mr. Sunil Datti, MLA Mr. Inderbir Singh Bularia, MLA Mr. Santokh Singh Bhalaipura, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, Police Commissioner Mr. S.S. Shrivastav, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Mr. Gurloveleen Singh Sidhu, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ravinder Singh, President of Congress (Urban) Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma, Deputy Mayor Mr. Avtar Singh Truckanwala and Councillor Mr. Sukhdev Singh Chahal were also present.
