Seminar on ‘Role of Direct Taxes in Nation Building’ organised

Chandigarh, July 27 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A tree plantation drive and a seminar on ‘Role of Direct Taxes in Nation PPN2707201702Building’ were organised by the Income tax department on the occasion of Income Tax Day today. While the plantation drive was carried out at the upcoming Mohali office site in sector 78 Mohali the seminar was organized at Chandigarh in which officers of the Department, members of Bar and CA association, and taxpayers were present. The eminent speakers for the seminar were eminent journalists Shekher Gupta and Subhomoy Bhattacharjee both from Business Standard. The Department organised various other events during the day such as competitions to mark the occasion as a part of the celebrations of 157th year of Income Tax Department.

            More than 100 fruit bearing and medicinal trees were planted over the area spreading 1.5 acres by the officers and officials of the Department. K.C. Jain, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, North West Region and Ms. Madhu Mahajan, Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) North West Region and other officers planted trees such as Rudraksha, Neem, Arjun, Bel.
