Amritsar, August 5 (Punjab Post Bureau) – To make the students aware in the wake of ongoing rainy season and the spread of Vector Borne Diseases, Dept. of Zoology, DAV college, Amritsar organized a lecture on ‘’Vector Borne Diseases” today. Dr. Madan Mohan, District Epidemiologist from Civil Surgeon Office was the resource person during the event. Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar appreciated the efforts of Zoology Department for organizing such educational lectures for benefits of students. Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar along with Dr. Rajni Khanna, Head department of Zoology gave floral welcome to the key speaker and his team. While speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar talked about the negative effects of vector borne diseases and he also advised the students to take valuable precautions to protect themselves as advised by resource person. During the event, Dr. Neeraj Gupta introduced the resource person and Dr. Rajni Khanna Head department highlighted the various achievements of the resource person to the students.
While addressing the students, Dr Madan Mohan, discussed about the various types of mosquitoes which spread Malaria, Chikungunya, Dengue and their control measures. He also motivated student’s to understand the importance of epidemic vector-borne diseases as they are main reasons behind emerging public health, social, and economic problems at the beginning of the 21st century.
Students of BSc Medical and BSc (Biotech) participated in the event and asked various queries. During this lecture Dr Daizy Sharma, Dr. Anita Mahajan, Prof Renu Chauhan, Dr. Rajni Bala and Dr. Ashish Gupta also attended the lecture.
