DFP orgnaises New India Movement-Sanklp Se Sidhi programme

Whenever country’s sovereignty challenged, enemy faces consequences -War Vetrans

Amritsar, Sept. 1 (Punjab Post Bureau) – War is never good for any country and India has never gone to war with any nation on its own. However, whenever the sovereignty of the country has been challenged the enemy has faced its consequences.

            These views were expressed by two war veterans including Subedar Major Gurbachan Singh Padda, a 1971 India-Pakistan war veteran and Honorary Captain Bhupinder Singh who had fought during Kargil operation while being posted in Drass sector in Jammu and Kashmir. Both the war veterans shared their experiences with the students of Govt Senior Secondary School, Attari during a programme ‘Making of New India-Sankalp Se Sidhi’.

            The programme was organized by the Amritsar based Field Publicity Unit of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in coordination with the district administration. Assistant Commissioners Alka Kalia was the Chief Guest and was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner Shivraj Bal. Freedom Fighters Jaimal Singh and Gurdeep Singh Guests of Honor.

Pledge to make India terrorism, corruption, poverty and communalism free by the year 2022 was also administered to the students and others present there by Field Publicity Officer Rajesh Bali on this occasion.

            It took five years to complete the mission of Quit India movement of 1942 as the country attained freedom five years later in 1947. Similarly the Union government has set a target of turning the present India into a new India by 2022, five years from now on.

            Assistant Commissioner Alka Kalia called upon the students to study hard to work for building a progressive nation where corruption and communalism has no space. At the same time she said Swachh Bharat is another part of the pledge which can only be attained if all of us would work together towards a Clean India.

            President of Punjab Pradesh Freedom Fighters’ Successors’ Organiosation Gian Singh Saggu who accompanied both the freedom fighters spoke on their behalf and shared their experiences of freedom movement. School Principal Rawail Singh spoke on freedom struggle at length.

            Quiz on Quit India Movement, Embroidery, Painting and Kabbadi contests were also organized and winners were awarded. Patriotic films on Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subas Chander Bose and Quit India Movement were also shown on this occasion. Field Publicity Officer Rajesh Bali said that such programmes are on across the country and this was the first in Punjab.
