Demands waiver of center’s share also
Amritsar, Mar. 21 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Applauding the initiative of waiving off GST on the purchases made for langar/ prasad at Golden Temple, Ram Tirath and Durgiana Mandir; Lok Sabha MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that Capt. Amarinder Singh has made his move and now it is center’s turn to waive its share for these three places. Aujla said that Vidhan Sabha passed a unanimous resolution to seek total waiver from the Centre, while directing officials of the concerned department to work out modalities for similar waiver at revered religious shrines of other communities. Aujla said that opposition members from the Aam Aadmi Party stood up and applauded this decision of the state government which denotes its importance for the region. Aujla further said that SGPC had paid nearly 2 crores GST while purchasing ration for langar and parshad whereas Union finance minister, Sh. Arun Jaitley had said in a statement that no GST has been imposed on the food served in langar and the charges that government has imposed GST on langar in gurdwaras is incorrect. Aujla said that now SAD-BJP and their masters must explain to the citizens, why Jaitley resorts to such lies. Aujla thanked Capt. Amarinder Singh for making this bold move in spite of state still being in cash crunch.
