Pathankot, Mar. 21 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A delegation of Punjab MP’s led by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President and Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur Mr. Sunil Jakhar called on the Union Communication Minister Mr. Manoj Sinha and asked him to provide communication facilities to the pilgrims during the Amarnath yatra. Mr. Ravneet Singh Bittu MP from Ludhiana and Mr. Gurjit Singh Aujla, MP from Amritsar accompanied him. Sunil Jakhar said that Amarnath Langar Seva Samiti having its branches in Uttar Pradesh and other states, offering free halt and food facilities by erecting tents at Pissu Top point on Pahalgam-Chandanbari Route during Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir for past two decades. But due to the lack of communication facilities in the Pissu Top Area, all devotees and the administrators facing a lot of trouble and people can not contact back with their families. Mr. Jakhar said that BSNL a few years back provided a temporary PCO and mobile tower at Pissu Top and the facility was highly appreciated by pilgrims, social activist and government employees. He told the Union Communication Minister that during the yatra thousands of pilgrims from all the corners of the country are required to travel, so it is necessary for the government to provide communication facilities in their travel route. He demanded that the temporary PCO and mobile tower should be installed at the Pissu Top so that the devotees could be accommodated. The Union Communication Minister assured that adequate arrangements will be made by the government to provide communication facilities to the pilgrims.
