Jalandhar, Mar. 30 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Under the aegis of Vajra Corps a mega Ex-Servicemen rally was organised by the Pine Division at Military Station Solan for the Veterans, Veer Naris and Widows from various districts of Himachal Pradesh. The rally witnessed huge response from Ex-Servicemen with as many as (str) turning up to reaffirm their bond with the profession of Armed Forces. The General Officer Commanding, Pine Division graced the occasion alongwith Commander, Victory for Certain Brigade.
The rally was attended by serving officers of the Indian Army and civil administration officials. The primary aim of the rally was to reach out to the Veterans and War Widows of Armed Forces and resolve their service and other civil administration related grievances. A number of counters were set up to extend the facilities to the Ex-Servicemen including various stalls from the Record Offices to resolve pension anomalies and other stalls like ECHS, PCDA, Zila Sainik Board and Resettlement. A medical camp was also organised to meet the medical needs of attendees and a Grievance Resolution Cell by the civil administration to resolve the problems of Ex-Servicemen. The other attractions of the rally were Military Band display and cultural program.
The year 2018 is being celebrated by Indian Army as ‘The Year of War Disabled’ and keeping with the traditions of the services, the disabled soldiers were felicitated during the rally. A total of modified auto scooters, wheel chairs and various grants were distributed to the disabled Veterans. In addition to this, Veer Naris and Widows were also felicitated.
While addressing the Veterans, General Officer Commanding, Pine Division reiterated the various facilities being extended to Veterans by the Indian Army as well as the Central and State Governments. He reassured the gathering that all out efforts are being made by the Army and Civil Administration to resolve the grievances of Ex-Servicemen. He thanked the Civil Administration in extending whole hearted support for successful conduct of the rally. The overwhelming response from Veterans and on the spot resolution of their grievances is a testimony to the fact that the rally went far in achieving its stated aim of welfare of Ex-Servicemen.
