Amritsar, Sept. 30 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla honored and appreciated the 4 BSF personnel who carried out rescue operation at Shahpur chowki saving the lives of 3 teenagers during the flood like situation in river Ravi. Aujla gave certificate of appreciation to all the four personnel. Aujla said that villagers gave an SOS call to SI Dalbeer Singh of 32 BN BSF who was in the middle of cremation of his mother but answering the call he passed on the information to SI Gautam Datta, 32 BN BSF and CT (G) B K Rai, 32 BN BSF who immediately came into action.
L/NK Gurjant Singh, 32 BN BSF Water Wing was called to carry SI Gautam and CT Rai in the broken down and weakened powerboat to rescue the drowning boys. L/NK Gurjant had to cruise up river in flooded Ravi and reached the spot in 6 minutes. All three boys were rescued and one being in critical state was revived by the BSF personnel in the boat itself. DIG Oberoi informed that the rescue was made possible by the sheer courage and responsiveness of the personnel, any delay would have reduced the chances of survival of the 3 boys. He added that their was a great chance of these boys being swept away into Pakistan creating more complications.
Aujla said that these BSF personnel not just guard our frontiers but also serve the civilians in any way possible. He informed that he shall be writing to PM Narendra Modi and HM Rajnath Singh to award these brave hearts.
