Amritsar, Jan. 16 (Punjab Post Bureau) – A seven day NSS camp was organized by the NSS Department of D.A.V College Amritsar from 8-14 January 2019. On the valedictory day Amrik Singh Pawar DCP Law and order graced the occasion as the chief Guest. This camp was organized under the able leadership of Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar along with NSS Team comprising of Dr. Ritu Arora (Incharge NSS), Prof. Loveleen Kaur, Prof Vikas Behl, Dr Gaurav Sharma.
While speaking on occasion, Principal formally introduced the guest and honored him with a shawl and momento. He appreciated the efforts of NSS Department on conducting this successful seven day camp and highlighted the significance of NSS for the upliftment of the society. Dr. Ritu Arora read out the report of the seven days of the camp.
While addressing the students DCP Pawar urged the NSS Volunteers to be the harbingers of change. He highlighted the importance of society in accepting the drug addicts who have under gone rehabilitation programme.
During this seven day camp various activities were organized in which all NSS volunteers participated enthusiastically in various interactive sessions and touched various sensitive issues connected with the society. Student’s whole hearty exchanged their views and desires to eradicate the prevailing social evils like drug abuse, wastage of water, cleanliness, traffic awareness, environmental issues.
During the camp Swachta Rally, drawing and poster making competition was held on theme depicting Socio–Economic Problems of the society. Students also visited Gurdwara where they performed various religious activities. Talent hunt programme and lohri celebrations were also done during this seven day event.
During the valedictory session, NSS volunteers also shared their experiences during the feedback session. Prizes and certificates were presented to winners of different activities.
Prof. Loveleen Kaur, Prof. Vikas Behl, Dr. Gaurav Sharma were present during the camp.
