GNDU to organize First National Students’ Conference on Spectroscopy

 Amritsar, September 18 (Punjab Post Bureau) -One of the biggest challenges faced by educators in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is to engage students in productive and fruitful activities. In an effort to reduce costs associated with attending an in-person conference and help students widen their scientific knowledge, SciRox-Science club of Guru Nanak Dev University is excited to announce its “first National Students’ Conference on Spectroscopy” (NSCoS-2020), co-organized by Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) (local chapter Chandigarh/ Amritsar); in collaboration with American Chemical Society (ACS), Society for Promotion of Science and Technology (SPSTI), Panchkula, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST), Chandigarh. This two day conference will be organized on October 16 & 17, 2020 virtually on Zoom and YouTube.

          Chief patrons Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Dharamvir IAS  Retd. President SPSTI Panchkula and Patron Prof. Hardeep Singh Dean Students’ Welfare will graced the events with their presence. The whole event will be carefully guided highly experienced Conveners- Dr. Bindiya Arora from SciRox &  Dr. Venus S. Mithu both from SciRox of the University and Mr. Yatin Batra Organizing Secretary, SciRox along with the local organizing committee members.“We are looking for creative ways to replicate this experienceonline. Participants will be able to present their ideas and experiences in spectroscopy through this platform and also we are excited to explore virtual coffee and lunch breaks and other ways to engage.”said Dr. Bindiya Arora and Dr. Venus Singh Mithu.

          The conference is unique in looking for a thorough grasp on the principles, applications and strategies of some of the modern spectroscopic techniques and aims to give an in-depth knowledge on the recent developments in spectroscopy by means of invited talks, pre-recorded demonstrations and poster presentations.
