More than 3,000 samples being taken daily in view of second wave
Kapurthala, May 8 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Collection of covid samples in Kapurthala district has crossed 3 lakh as in the wake of the second wave of covid to identify the epidemic at early stage, the collection of samples being collected daily exceeding 3000 against the earlier 1800 to 2000.
Disclosing this here today Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Mrs. Deepti Uppal said that 311126 covid tests have been conducted in the district till last May 5, out of which 2385 samples were taken on May 33145 on May 4 and 3005 samples on May 5.
She said that the district administration through various means of communication has given meaningful results to the people to get tested immediately on the onset of symptoms, as a result of which people are now coming forward for more tests.
A total of 13868 positive cases were detected from the samples taken so far, out of which 12852 belonged to Kapurthala district and 1016 to other districts. She also said that out of the cases in Kapurthala district 11554 have recovered and returned home while 948 are active cases.
Deputy Commissioner said that testing has been started at vegetable mandis, mohallas, and grain mandis during wheat season and police check posts in the cities.
She also said that the main cause of death related to covid was due to late testing and untimely treatment, so people must understand the importance of early testing.
