Amritsar, January 25 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), Amritsar
today organized `Pet Owner’s Interaction Meet’ at College’s Veterinary Hospital. The fcaulty members from the college gave the valuable tips to the pet owners during the interaction.
Gunbir Singh, Finance Secretary of the Society who chaired the meeting along with Principal, KCVAS, Dr. H.K. Verma and Incharge VCC Dr. PS Mavi said the meet was aimed to get feedback and apprise the dog lovers, pet owners and representative from various NGOs regarding the animal care and treatment.
The suggestions were also sought from the participants to improve and move forward with hospital’s aim to improve the animal health care services and to nurture the pet owner-doctor relationship. Professors and Head of Clinical Departments including para-clinical departments such as Veterinary Public Health & Epidemiology, Veterinary Microbiology, and also Animal Nutrition were present to enlighten the facilities available at the clinic and also guide the pet owners on feeding and nutrition, communicable diseases that can spread from animal to humans and vice versa.
The meeting highlights on the adoption of Green Channel for the pet owner which will be a boon for the pet owners and the society. The Institute also focused on improving the in-house drug store as well as pet, large animal and nutrition program in the upcoming months. It was also discussed to organize animal health camps and vaccination drive at various places in Amritsar for the awareness and control of zoonotic diseases.
Dr. H.K Verma stated that pet owners are the torch bearer in guiding the hospital to leap into a new program on how best to serve the society. Dr.SK Nagpal and other senior faculty members were present,.
