Two–day Central Revenue Cultural Meet–North Zone 2014 ends

Amritsar, Dec. 9 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The two–day Central Revenue Cultural Meet – North Zone 2014, hosted by the Income Tax Department Amritsar, ended today with a glittering closing ceremony at the Punjab Naatshaalaa amidst much fanfare. The ceremony was attended by all the high officials and other dignitaries of both the departments of Income tax and Central Excise and Customs. On this occasion, Sh. S.K Sawhney, Commissioner of Customs, Amritsar was the Chief Guest whereas Smt. Nishi Singh, Chief commissioner of Income Tax, Amritsar presided over the function. The second day of the meet was a musical affair with events in various categories such as vocal and instrumental music, both light and classical, group songs, group dance etc. The officials of the departments displayed their musical talents and enthralled the audience with their performances. Participants sang gazals and folk songs, played the flute in various raagaas and danced to the beats of the dhol, which left the audience spellbound. The judges on this occasion were various musical luminaries of the city such as sh. Harinder Sohal, smt.Ritu Sharma,Sh. Vijay mehak, smt Rashmi Nanda and Smt. Shammi Sharma. Addressing the audience on this occasion, Sh. S.K. Sawhney, Commissioner, praised the entire show put forth by the department. He said that it is indeed appreciable that the officials of the department, even after being overloaded with work, have kept their hobbies alive and have pursued these arts to perfection. He also applauded the efforts of the Organising committee in putting together this event and to taking it to new heights of performance. He distributed the awards to the winners.

The closing ceremony ended on a high note with a scintillating and energy-packed giddha performance by the state-award winning team of Govt Senior Secondary School, Hayer, Amritsar. Sh. V.K. Gupta, Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), proposed the vote of thanks. The Chairman of the organising committee, Sh. Yogender Chaudhry, Commisioner,  speaking on the occasion said that it was indeed an honour for the Amritsar Chief Commissionerate to have been given the duty to host this event. To discharge this duty, the committee had put sincere efforts to put together this extravaganza of events by toiling day and night. All cadres of officials put in their bit, including Sh. Saad Kidwai, Additional commissioner, Dr.Tarundeep, Ratinder Kaur, Virender Singh, Dr. Kanchan Garg (Deputy Commissioners), Sh. Sudhir khanna, Harmesh Garg, G.L Rana, Gurdhian Singh, Pramod ram(Income Tax Officers) and Sh. Rashpal singh, Davinder Paliyal, Vikas Kumar( Inspectors) and sh. Ashutosh, STA. Sh. Ajay Kumar, DD(systems) compered the event.
