
Amritsar, Feb 14 (Punjab Post Bureau) – An exhibition by avid photographers of Punjab has been organised by WWF in collaboration with Alpha One Mall.The exhibition shall be for 3 days ending Sunday night. Well known participants of this Bird exhibition were Navtej Singh, Gaurav Madhopuri, Sandeep Beas and Karan Sharma from Kapurthala. The highlight of the exhibition was the enthusiastic spectators who thronged the exhibits thereby encouraging the artists.
Inaugurating the exhibition Gunbir Singh, chairperson WWF – India (Punjab) said that this was the first initiative of its kind in the region where photographic ingenuity depicting the avian species was being exhibited. The response from the visitors was overwhelming for the artists whose works were on display.
Mr. Singh also mentioned that WWF India is now well spread out in its operations pan Punjab. It is working in the wetlands of Ropar, Harike, Pong, Shalla Patan, Keshopur,as well as Kanjli in collaboration with the Forest & Wildlife departments. We have just conducted a bird census in Harike last month as well he said, where birders from across North India participated wholeheartedly. Our effort shall be to dovetail these activities with the student and artist fraternity in order to ensure awareness of our ecology among the people. Puneet Watts, looking after WWF PUNJAB affairs is facilitating the three day event in coordination with Alpha One.
