Conference on “Medicine Rendezvous 2015” inaugurated by Dr. G.S. Wander

Amritsar, March 3 (Punjab Post Bureau) – Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Vallah, Sri Amritsar organized “Medicine Rendezvous 2015” today in which various National and International Doctors jointly echoed for creating awareness about the presentational techniques to counter the threat of Diabetic & Obesity. The Conference which was inaugurated by renowned Dr. G.S. Wander, Director Hero Heart, DMC, Ludhiana, was attended by about 250 deligates from various medical colleges of Northern India besides renowed endocrinologist of University of Cardiff and Wale, U.K.

Sharing his experience on heart failure which is a day to day problem encountered in OPD and indoor, Dr. G.S.Wander explain in detail about the disease and stress for changing eating habits and life style as in the present sinearo where people are becoming more prone to obesity. Addressing the conference Dr. J.S. Davis Endocrinologist at Southamptan, Cardiff University, U.K revealed that about two centuries ago world was facing the threat of diseases like Cholera, Typhoid which were strongly overcome by Medical faculty. Now a days faculty is facing the challenges from diabetic and obesity which should be dealt jointly by imparting knowledge he said adding that the main motive of holding such conferences are to create awareness about various diseases like Heart Attack, Diabetic, Anemia, deficiency of Vitamin D, which are the main cause of death.

Dr. Atul Sachdeva, Director Principal, GMCH, Chandigarh discussed regarding management of inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Atul Kalhan, Endocrinologist Cardiff University, U.K. shared his experience on SGLT inhibitors as role in diabetes management. Advances in insulin pump therapy in diabetes were discussed by Dr. Kofi. Dr. Rajeev Khanna endocrinologist discussed regarding subclinical hypothyroidism. Extra hepatic manifestations of HCV were discussed by Dr. Gurinder Mohan, Professor and Head, Department of Medicine, SGRD Hospital. To assess the knowledge of students, a quiz was organized in which students of various medical colleges participated in which students of GMC, Amritsar stood first. The update provided insight into the basics and latest advances in medicine in an interactive manner.

The function was also graced by S. Joginder Singh, Secretary, Dr. A.P.Singh, Addl. Secretary SGRD Charitable Hospital Trust, Dr. Geeta Sharma, Director Principal, SGRD, Dr. Rajeev Khanna, Dr. Gurinder Mohan, Prof & Head, Medicine Department, Dr. Narotam Bhalla.
