Workshop on “Green Chemistry & its applications” organized at BBK DAV College

Amritsar, Mar. 20 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Department of Chemistry of BBK DAV College for Women organized a One Day DBT Sponsored Workshop on “Green Chemistry and its applications” The workshop was conducted by Dr. Harsh Kumar Manchanda, Associated Professor, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar, where he enlightened the students of B.Sc. Medical/ Non-Medical on the subject. Dr. Manchanda introduced Green Chemistry approach, its 12 Principal & its importance to the students. He emphasized on modification of the less hazardous laboratory experiment, currently practiced by the students under present syllabi to greener methods using less hazaradous chemicals, solvents etc.. He gave green guidelines for teachers and students doing experiments in lab.

After the lecture, the practicals were performed in the chemistry practical lab, where student did detection of the element & organic synthesis of compound using greener pathaways than conventionally practiced. This opportunity helped innovative minds for future development & growth of subject in general. Dr. Poonam Khullar, Mrs. Rashmi Kalia, Dr. Shweta, Dr. Monika and all faculty members were present.
