
Amritsar, Apr. 14 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The jubilations and enthusiasm of Baisakhi was apparent as the students of DAV Public School, Lawrence Road celebrated the festival of bounty and prosperity in its premises. The vibrant festival of Baisakhi is an important festival of Punjab. Besides being a harvest festival, it is considered as an auspicious beginning of the new year. On this day in 1875, Swami Dayanand Saraswati founded Arya Samaj for spiritual guidance and on the same day in 1699 , the Tenth Guru of Sikhs Guru Gobind Singh Ji founded Khalsa Panth.
The morning assembly of the school reverberated with joyous songs and loud cheers as the students decked up in colourful clothes performed bhangra at the beat of the dhol. The students also read out the history and significance of Baisakhi and recited self composed poems to mark the occasion. Mr. Gurbinder Singh Bhatti from Punjabi Faculty informed the students about the rich cultural heritage of Punjab and also advised the students to celebrate the festival in its right spirit. He also said that due to environmental changes the relevance of the festivals is changing as the crop is yet to be harvested. So, he urged that we must take care of our environment for better future.
Regional Director Amritsar Zone Dr.(Mrs.) Neelam Kamra Principal BBK DAV College for Women and the Manager of the school Dr. Rajesh Kumar Principal DAV College sent their best wishes to the students on this occasion. They said that this day is a ‘Thanks giving day’ , so the we must thank God for the good life granted to them .
Dr. Neera Sharma Principal of the school also congratulated the students and the staff on this day. She blessed the students for good health, prosperity and success in life.
