Amritsar, Apr. 16 (Manjt Kaur) – Baisakhi, the harvest festival of Punjab was celebrated enthusiastically with gusto in the school auditorium. A cultural programme was presented by the students of senior section with joy and fervour. Dr. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Registrar Guru Nanak Dev University was the Chief Guest. S. Charanjit Singh Chadha President CKDCS presided over the function. S. Narinder Singh Khurana Honorary Secretary CKDCS was the Guests of Honour. They were warmly welcomed by Principal/Director Dr. DharamVeer Singh and headmistresses. The cultural bonanza began with school shabad which was followed by welcome speech by S. Charanjit Singh Chadha, President CKDCS. The programme consisted of welcome dance and punjabi dance by the students of senior section which depicted the rich culture of Punjab. A panorma of vivid colours combined with soulful music ruled the atmosphere. The play Sikh Saroop by students of IX showcased the courage and sacrifice of great leaders of india which mesmerized the audience. The Cheif guest was full of praise for the students and urged them to stay rooted to their culture while making advancements in the globalised world. The school auditorium came alive when boys of senior section presented a foot trapping Bhangra which made the audience swing and tap with beats of dhol. After this, the chief guest gave away the prizes to the merit holders of VIII, IX and +1 and was full of praise for the strenuous efforts of the diligent teachers and their parents and urged them to work persistently to achieve their goals.
Vote of thanks was given by S. Harminder Singh Member Incharge of the school. The programme ended with National Anthem. Director/Principal Dr. DharamVeer Singh addressed the esteemed guests and sensitized the historical and religious significance of Baisakhi. He appreciated the incredible performance of the students. The newly constructed Biology Lab and Mathematics Lab were also inaugurated by S. Charanjit Singh Chadha President and S. Narinder Singh Khurana Hon. Secretary respectively. The programme was attended by Vice President S. Dhanraj Singh, Resident President S. Nirmal Singh, S. Surinder Pal Singh Walia, S. Swinder Singh Kathunangal, S. Pritpal Singh Sethi, S. Manjit Singh Manjal, S. Ranbir Singh Chopra, S. Manmohan Singh, Headmistress of school Mrs. Kawalpreet Kaur, Mrs. Nischint Kaur, Mrs. Renu Ahuja, Supervisors Mrs. Kiranjot Kaur, Mrs. Manju, Mrs. Ravinder Kaur, teacher, students and parents. Mouth watering food stalls were arranged in the school ground on this occasion.
