PPN130402

Amritsar  April, 13th ( Punjab Post Bureau)- All  the doctors who gathered at the IMA today agreed with AAP’s  Lok Sabha candidate from Amritsar Dr Daljit Singh, when he stressed the need of  “Affordable health for all”. Amritsar’s “who is who” not only from the various fields of medicine, but from other professions as well as from commerce were present. The atmosphere was charged, naturally because the intellect of the city was talking about “Solutions.”  Solutions to the problems that we face every day, problems that seem irremovable .   But  if with sheer grit and determination , Polio  could be eradicated, so can  all of these problems, says Dr. Daljit Singh. “All we need is to  put our heads together to seek solutions, honestly and diligently at a macro level.” Dr Daljit Singh reiterated that education and healthcare are the two major concerns all over the globe. In India however health does not feature in the priorities  of any political party.  While private health care sector has  advanced in leaps and bounds , state run health institutions have  lagged far behind , forcing patients to seek treatment in the private sector.  And how many of us can afford the treatments offered at private hospitals ?  Healthcare is simply too expensive for the Aam Aadmi.   Huge government hospitals with exorbitant budgets are being under utilized and mismanaged to such an extent that their expensive machines are decaying due to disuse.  People living in the rural areas are most affected due to deficient healthcare . For every little problem , people have to rush to the towns and cities at great expense and hardship. Often they suffer at the hands of  quacks. According to Dr Daljit Singh, health insurance for all is the need of the hour , “Not the usual, useless, namesake Health Insurance, but a workable acceptable one which would cover all ailments for anybody at a minimum cost. The government of India has to prioritize this and  I would pursue this relentlessly. ” He further invoked the famous saying that “Prevention is better than cure ” , whereby  not only do we have to treat illness , but go a step further by trying to ensure health and prevent diseases from occurring at all.
