
Amritsar, July 29 (Punjab Post Bureau) – The Young Chef India Schools 2015 competition organised by IIHM, New Delhi preliminary round was held on 28th July, 2015, followed by Hospitality Management Career Counselling Workshop on 29th July, 2015 at DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, Amritsar. 23 students of Food Production course from Std XI & XII participated in the Young Chef Competition and showcased their culinary skills under the supervision of Sector supervisor Mrs. Neelam Singh and Food Production Instructors Mrs. Harpreet Oberoi for Std XI and Mrs. Anuradha for Std XII.
They prepared Indian, Chinese and Continental dishes and snacks such as Tawa Paneer Masala, Triplet, Creamy Apple Cracker and Pizza Italia etc. The judge for the Young Chef India Competition was Mr. Soumajit Day, a highly experienced and well read member of hospitality industry. He has previously worked with Oberoi in Delhi and ISWB in Dubai. He is currently working as counsellor and head of marketing department IIHM, New Delhi.
Mr. Soumajit was also the resource person for the career counselling workshop in Hospitality Management for XI & XII held on 29th July. He gave valuable insights to students on how they could make a fruitful career in hospitality industry.
Regional Director Dr. (Mrs.) Neelam Kamra, Principal BBK DAV College for Women, expressed her satisfaction at the hardwork put in by students and exhorted them to work with greater dedication. School Manager Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Principal DAV College also gave his blessings to the students and participants, and wished them success in their work.
Principal Dr. Neera Sharma praised the spectacular show of food craft put up by the students and encouraged them to improve their skills, and thanked Mr. Soumajit Dey for his valuable co-operation and advice.
